IVF for women over 45

It's important to note that due to the natural decline in fertility after 45, success rates for IVF using your own eggs tend to be lower. In the UK, many clinics may have specific guidelines for offering IVF treatment at this stage.

Pregnant at 45 with own eggs

While advancements like In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Preimplantation Genetic Screening (PGS) offer hope for later-in-life pregnancies, there's a natural decline in egg quality as women age after 45.  Conceiving with your own eggs at this stage becomes statistically less likely. Though exceptions exist, success rates with a woman's own eggs in IVF after 45 are statistically low, making a natural pregnancy highly unlikely.

However, this doesn't necessarily mean the end of your motherhood journey. Many healthy women in their 40s and even 50s can successfully carry pregnancies with the help of donor eggs. If you're considering pregnancy later in life, we offer comprehensive evaluations, including both your uterus and remaining egg reserve, to help you understand your options and chart the best course of action.

Chances with Donor Eggs

Thankfully, egg donation offers a renewed chance of pregnancy for women over 45. Egg donation offers a renewed chance of pregnancy for women over 45. It's proven that using healthy younger donor eggs increases success rates over 45.

If you discover that your egg reserve is very low, and you’re advised that fertility treatments are unlikely to be successful with your own eggs, you should be reassured that treatment will still be possible with a better chance of success using donor eggs.

Our donors are young altruistic women who live in the UK. They undergo a rigorous screening process to ensure they meet the HFEA standards and are committed to our programme.
